The Ace

Welcome to my little corner.

I have loved the aspect of taking something that is in essence broken and finding a way to put it back together for the better. After all, that's what I feel like life does to us sometimes. We go through experiences, sometimes good and sometimes not so good, and we can choose to come out of those experiences stronger or not. It's all a learning process, if we let it be.

Well I think it is safe to say that I am going through a huge learning process right now and loving it. Back in January my husband, my parents, and I decided to try something new (new to us). We decided to take a leap and start flipping houses (fixing them up and selling them). Granted, we are on house number 1, a.k.a. The Ace so we are just beginning this adventure.

The Ace

When we first walked through the house I wasn't quite sure what to think. I was super excited and nervous at the same time. I knew that this house would need a lot of work but I also knew that it has so much potential. It just needed a lot of TLC. However, my mom's first thoughts were "bulldoze it". Luckily we were able to explain to her what we (husband, dad and I) were thinking and she went with it.

This house has been quite the experience, and we are still in the demo phase. It's been interesting to see what people leave behind, intentionally or not. It's been interesting to see how we have gotten to know this house. How the house was built and added on to. As I've worked on the house, pulling sheetrock off or pulling nails out of boards I've thought about the things this house has seen. The people it has sheltered. The stories it could tell. As we take it apart I get more excited to put it back together so that it can "see" even more. Shelter more people. Make more memories. I love that, in a way, we get to let The Ace have a "second chance".

Here is a photo dump of all the progress that has made. As we continue to make more progress I will post more! *These first set of photos ("panoramas") were taken on my phone.*
